The Anytime Fitness citywide “Biggest Loser” competition is well on its way. A total of 80 people signed up for the competition. With 80 people, there were a total of 18 different teams. People can stop by Anytime Fitness to check to see if there is someone or an entire team they would like to cheer for. The list of participants is posted along with all of the co-sponsors of the event outside of the Anytime Fitness facility in Northbridge Mall.
As an update to the events that have taken place and events to come, there has been a night of nutrition with Amy Pleimling from Hy-Vee with 26 people taking advantage of her knowledge.
Friday night was the first physical competition. Although there was a low turnout for the first competition, there were some serious competitors. Twelve of the 80 participants competed for a prize of $60. The prize package is put together by the competitors by paying a $5 fee to compete.
The competition consisted of wall sits. The last person down accumulated 12 points on down to first one down with one point. The next competition was the Bosu ball and deep knee bends with the highest person receiving 12 points again on down. The final competition was a cardio/strength test with number of strides per 30 seconds on the elliptical with the highest strides receiving 12 points on down. All three scores were then totaled and the highest scorer was the winner.
The winner of the competition with 31 points was Tracy Behrends, second place was Kathy Johnson with 30 points, third place went to Julia Villanuevo and fourth place went to Karen Jacobs, who was representing the 50-plus age group.
Some things to look for coming up will be the temptation weigh-in scheduled for Friday at 5:30 p.m. This temptation will be sponsored by Green Mill. Contestants are invited to eat whatever they like, but they must weigh in after they eat.
Another competition that is expected to have a big turnout is the grandstand competition at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds. Mega Force Sound and Light Show will be on hand to help us with this competition.
Organizers are hoping to have area support and a cheering section for this competition.
