‘Extreme Makeover’ knock is today

Published 9:19 am Tuesday, September 30, 2008

So today is the big day for fans of the TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” in the Albert Lea area. Today is the day host Ty Pennington comes to Albert Lea and knocks on the door of a family and announces plans to build a new house.

The knock on the door takes place after the Albert Lea Tribune’s print edition went to press today, but the Tribune will post the news about what happened on its Web site: AlbertLeaTribune.com. In fact, many readers paid close attention to the site today so they could be the first to tell their friends which local family was selected and where the home is at.

Finally, all the rumors were put to rest.

Building a new home for this family is a community-effort. Companies are donating labor and materials, and volunteers are donating their time. Larson Contracting is in charge of building the house. A list of all the companies assisting in the effort can be found under “Partners” at the official Web site. Go to AlbertLeaTribune.com and click on the Larson Contracting logo.

There, you also will find additional photographs, information about the selected family, a Q&A on the show, and plenty of other tidbits.

If you don’t have the Internet, don’t worry. The Tribune will print news about today’s excitement in Wednesday’s edition. The Tribune — online and in print — also will keep you informed about the progress on the construction all week long.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” airs at 7 p.m. Sundays on ABC. Larson Contracting has offices in Albert Lea and Lake Mills, Iowa.
