In a recent publication of the Albert Lea Tribune, the Salvation Army requested monetary assistance to purchase school supplies for students within Freeborn County supporting their ‘Tools for Schools” program. Being the Glenville-Emmons School District is committed to providing the best education possible for the future leaders in our area, the G-E Parent Teacher Committee took this request to heart. Within a couple hours the PTC came up with $100 to donate to this worthy cause.

“This will be the first of many years our district will participate in this donation process. By next year, we will have a more complete process to acquire both school supplies and monetary donations to assist families not only in our district, but surrounding districts as well,” said Sue Gillard, principal. Plans are to include this request in our “Back To School” newsletter and receive the donations on registration day. Gillard challenges all school districts to join in this very important cause.

This type of donation supports a recent initiative rolled out by the by the G-E PTC. Susie Miller, PTC chairwoman, said, “We want everyone within our district to be active participants in this new initiative that has been named, Positively Awesome Wolverine Spirit.”
