Opal Sande

The funeral service for Opal Grace Sande will be 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before service at the church. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Opal died on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea. She was 89 years old.
Opal was born in Joice, Iowa, on Nov. 23, 1918, the daughter of Galena (Evenson) and Oscar Bang. She attended country schools in the Joice area and graduated from Joice High School in 1937. She married Lloyd Sande on Nov. 12, 1938, at Round Prairie Lutheran Church.
Opal had been a member of Round Prairie Lutheran Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Eagles Club in Albert Lea and Sons Of Norway.
Opal enjoyed camping, traveling (going to Norway was her highlight), needlework, gardening and her Amaryllis flower garden. She was especially fond of small dogs.
Opal is survived by her children: Myrna (Dean) Sorensen of Alden, Richard (Anita) Sande of Albert Lea, Joel (Denise) Sande of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Cammie (Wes) Tennis, James (Teri) Hansen, Angie (Bob) Jackson, Karen (Lonny) Hagen, Jack Carr, Nick Sande and Emily Sande; and great-grandchildren: Caylee and Bethany Tennis, Nathan and Kelsey Hansen, Holly Jackson, Noelle, Rachel and Emma Hagen.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Sande; sister, Adeline Aasland, brother, Helmer Bang, and son-in-law, Curt Hansen.
