Snowplows are simply part of Minnesota life

Although I am thankful whenever the snowplow comes by in the winter, especially after a good Minnesota snow blast, I can agree with the frustration that I believe Steve Hansen was trying to express. It’s not the sidewalks and boulevards that get snow plowed back in after a plow goes by that bothers me. It’s when the end of the driveways get over a foot of hardpacked snow plowed in after the plow comes by. I work the late night shift and I often have shoveled the end of our driveway after working all night, a lot of times the snow is pretty deep and packed, just to have the snowplow come by and pack it all back in again, sometimes within minutes after I have removed the heavy snow using only a shovel. It’s just something we all have to put up with. I don’t think Mr. Hansen was wrong to express the frustration that a lot of us have that season of the year with the snow and plowing. I think the city does a pretty good job of keeping our streets plowed in the winter. I guess I would rather reshovel the end of our driveway rather than drive in snow up to my fenders on the streets.
