Albert Lea Medical Center’s Diabetes Self-Management Education Program was recently awarded a recognition certificate by the American Diabetes Association for meeting the national standards for diabetes self-management education.

“We are very excited, this recognition means we offer a credible program that meets national standards,” said Kay Christianson, R.N., certified diabetes educator.

ALMC’s Diabetes Self-Management Education Program gives patients the tools they need to manage their diabetes through lifestyle changes by creating an awareness of diabetes and its complications. The program is led by Christianson; Gala Kubat, R.N., diabetes educator; Denise Arnold, registered dietitian; and Becky Goodell, registered dietitian.
