Class of 1958 leaves a legacy

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of our graduation from Albert Lea High School and to express our appreciation for the education provided to us as we began to explore the world more than 50 years ago, the Albert Lea High School class of 1958 reunion committee selected two projects as our class legacy to the school, the students, and to the community of Albert Lea:

First, A brick entrance sign for the Albert Lea High School on Y. H. Hanson Avenue. A brass plaque on the sign is inscribed: “May what you discover and learn here inspire, guide and challenge your life — gifted by the class of 1958.”

Second, contributions to the Tiger Alumni Student Assistance Endowment Fund, a permanent endowment fund in the Education Foundation of Albert Lea. With this endowment, the class wishes to recognize the importance of the balance of academic and extra-curricular activities in preparing students for their future lives.

Our class fundraising totaled $24,582 from 98 contributors, and allowed us to complete our projects in time for our 50th anniversary celebration.
