I am writing in recognition of Robert “Bob” Haukoos, who recieved the 2008 Distinguished Service Award for an HRA commissioner from the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. While Mr. Haukoos was recognized for his service to the Albert Lea Housing and Redevelopment Authority, it was apparent to the nominating committee that it is his overall dedication to service that made him stand out among the candidates.
Mr. Haukoos has been a tireless public servant. He worked for us as a representative in the state Legislature for six terms, served his country in the Navy, worked as a fireman and as a one term mayor for the city of Albert Lea. He defines integrity in all of his actions and provides us with leadership that we should all strive to emulate.
Congratulations, Bob, on receiving this award and thank you for your tireless service and support of the HRA. Thanks also to the mayor and City Council for their efforts in appointing Bob to the HRA Board of Commissioners.
