Private memorial services for Gary Lee Beckius, 66, of Albert Lea will be held at a later date.
Gary died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at Thorne Crest Retirement Community.
Gary Lee Beckius was born on Jan. 16, 1942, to Henry and Merna (Metteer) Beckius in Winnebago. He grew up in the Blue Earth and Winnebago area. Gary ran a mink farm for many years. He later managed a tiling company in New Richland. Gary was united in marriage to JoAnn Drager and to this union four children were born. Gary enjoyed farming, working with antique equipment and wood-working. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandson Tyler (Shorty), also his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his sons, Lonny Beckius and wife Heather and their son, Tyler (Shorty) of Albert Lea, and Tom Beckius of Hollandale; daughter, Kim McArdle of Albert Lea; brother, Ronnie Beckius and wife Connie of Sherburn; sisters, Bonnie Irons and husband Gary of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Betty Garvick of Blue Earth, Mavis Huntley and husband Ron of Blue Earth, and Pat Hendrix of California, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Joy Babb.
