The Tigers received the fifth seed for the Class A state tournament and will face No. 10-ranked Rochester Lourdes in the opening round of the state tournament which will begin Thursday.

Albert Lea will play at 7:30 p.m. at Park of Cottage Grove High School.

Mahtomedi, the No. 1 ranked team in Class A, receieved the No. 1 seed and will play Hermantown in the first round. Holy Angels, the No. 3-ranked team in Class A, received the No. 2 seed and will play St. Cloud Apollo. Benilde-St. Margarets, the fifth-ranked team in Class A, will play No. 6 seed St. Michael Albertville.

Lourdes has made the state tournament five previous times, the last coming in 2004. In 2000 the Eagles finished as the Class A runners-up after a 1-0 loss to champion Blake.

The Tigers and Lourdes have met four times in the last four years. Last year the teams played to a scoreless tie and in 2006 Albert Lea defeated the Eagles 1-0. In 2004 the Tigers lost 1-0 in double overtime and in 2005 they lost 4-0.
