Lois Brown

The funeral service for Lois Brown of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Bob Weniger will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before service at the church.
Lois died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Albert Lea. She was 87 years old.
Lois was born in Albert Lea on March 24, 1921, the daughter of Harper and Esther Christensen. She graduated from the Albert Lea High School in 1938. She worked in several offices in Albert Lea, among them the American Gas Machine Co. and Albert Lea Area Schools. She was married to Staff Sgt. Raymond Severtson in 1943. He died in Germany in 1945. Ray and Lois were the parents of Susan Rae.
Lois and Clifford Brown were married in 1947. He preceded her in death in 1992.
She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was active in the women’s groups and the Ambassadors Bible class.
Lois loved her family and her home. She enjoyed cooking and having family and friends in for meals.
She is survived by her son: Ross (Melinda) Brown of Mound; daughters: Susan Swanson of Cottage Grove, Carol (John) Gorder of Cuba, Mo., Julie (Byron) Jensen of Albert Lea; step daughter: Donna (Jack) Duncan of Wedowee, Ala.; grandchildren: Carolyn (Matt) Bickel, Chris (Sneha) Swanson, Lori (Ralph) Gasow, Tamra (Bruce) Work, Jody (Mike) Martin, Betsy Brown, Jason Brown, Adam (Tara) Jensen, Tracy (Jay) Behrends; also many great grandchildren; brothers: Donald (Lois) Christensen; and sisters-in-law: Marjorie Severtson and Lorraine Christensen.
Preceding her in death were her two husbands; parents; and her fathers-and mothers-in-law, Henry and Thea Severtson and George and Grace Brown; brother, Howard Christensen; sisters and brothers-in-law: Ruth and Eddie Grove, Don and Marvel Severtson and Irene and George Christensen.
