In observance of Lions Clubs International World Service Day, the members of the Cloverleaf Lions Club gave 45 residents of eight area retirement homes, a ride about Freeborn County. The riders love to observe the fall colors and could choose their own destinations, such as their family farm, church, or just ride along and enjoy the sights.
After a ride of an hour to an hour and one-half they returned to Ascension Lutheran Church where the Lions served them coffee milk, lemonade, cake, donuts, cookies, rolls, etc. The drivers then returned them to their respective homes. The residents that have participated in the rides on previous years really look forward to this special day in October. The St. John’s Lutheran Home bus was used for the rides and the kitchen and dining hall were used at Ascension Lutheran Church. The Lions used their personal cars together with St. Johns bus.
