See what 4-H has to offer this week

Have you been wondering how 4-H is doing? We realize that we have not written a 4-H update for quite some time. With the busy 4-H schedule in the summer, it is nearly impossible to get everything done. 4-H has had a very successful summer with camps, county fair and state fair, just to name a few. You have probably seen many pictures and results from county and state fair.

Many people have asked what 4-H does through out the year and what we stay busy with. There is always something going on with 4-H to stay busy with for adults and youth in the program.

The start of October is a busy month for 4-H again with the start of National 4-H Week on Oct. 5. We start off national 4-H week with 4-H Sunday today. Many clubs will have members talk at their church, or will put 4-H information sheets into their church bulletins. There will be many 4-H members and leaders that will be talking about their 4-H experience on KATE Radio from Oct. 6-10. A display of 4-H champion and reserve champion projects will also be up at the Northbridge Mall to showcase some of the many projects that 4-H has to offer.

Coming up the end of October is the big 4-H county awards banquet. At this banquet we recognize all the outgoing committee members, youth officers, adult leaders, and graduating 4-H members. We also have awards for outstanding junior leader, ambassador of the year, outstanding adult leader, secretary and treasurer of the year and many other awards.

The month of October is also busy with the start of the new 4-H year. New county officers are chosen as well as the county livestock, dog and horse committees and our Executive Council leaders. With the start of the new 4-H year, there are many leadership opportunities that take place such as adult leader training, new officer training, ambassador orientation, and our annual budget planning meeting.

If you would like more information about joining 4-H or would like to be a sponsor for any awards or events, please contact the Extension Office at 377-5660.
