As anticipation builds for the completion of the new Dirk and Susan DeVries house, hundreds of spectators came out to view the last 24 hours of the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” construction process Sunday.

By Monday morning, construction will be complete, and a final clean of the house will be conducted, along with some final touchups.

By 2 p.m., the leaders of Larson Contracting, the company in charge of building the family’s new house, will turn over the keys of the home to the “Extreme Makeover” staff.

It will be the end of 106 hours of nonstop construction by hundreds of skilled volunteers.

After that, the family’s new furniture will be moved in.

Then on Tuesday, at 2 p.m., the family will see the completed house.

People interested in welcoming the family home can come to the house at 84588 200th St. in Hayward Township.

The DeVries have been on a vacation in Niagara Falls, N.Y., since they found out about the home makeover last Tuesday.
