Albert Lea Cantori and the Albert Lea Area Youth Choir will present “Singing in the Season,” a concert of seasonal Advent and Christmas music, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Albert Lea United Methodist Church.

All styles of music, from Gospel to classical, will be heard. A special feature will be a set of “angel songs” — “Angels from the Realms of Glory,” “Angels in Seven” and “The Angel Carol.” Also featured will be “Fum, Fum, Fum” with John Bangh on clarinet.

“What Child Is This” and “Silent Night” will also be sung by the Cantori.

The Albert Lea Youth Choir will sing a festival “Hodie Christus Natus Est,” “Caroling, Caroling,” “Away in a Manger” and more.

The two choirs will join to sing Alfred Burt’s carol, “Some Children See Him” and “Midnight Clear” and will close with “Peaceful, Silent Night.” A traditional closing for the youth choir.

All past youth choir members are invited to join in the final piece.

Gail Thurnau is the accompanist for both choirs.

The Albert Lea Cantori was established in 1971 and Eileen Nelson Ness has been the director of music since 1979. The Albert Lea Area Youth Choir was founded in 1999 by Ness and she continues to direct the choir.

Admission to the concert is free and the public is welcome.
