Editorial: It’s nice; get out and play

Get out of the house and exercise.
November dishes up drab, gray, dreary weather, but it should be no reason to let it get to you. We have been fortunate to have not much wind the past few days — knock on wood — and so people might as well get outside and enjoy themselves.
It seems people are willing to escape to the outdoors in spring, summer and winter, but fall is split into two. People take in the colors and last few warm, sunny days during the first part of fall, but during the second part — the Election Day to Winter Solstice part — they hibernate. They would rather stay inside and watch TV, surf the Internet or play videogames than they would toss a football, go for a walk or ride a bike.
What’s strange is people will blame the cold this time of year but then when it is bitter cold with snow on the ground they are more than happy to climb on sleds and snowmobiles, build snow forts, hurl snowballs and walk in the winter wonderland.
It really hasn’t been so cold during the midday lately, and with physical activity building heat within your body, you really don’t notice the air temperature.
Get outside.
