Kehr, Anderson and Rasmussen win

Business woman Ellen Kehr has defeated Ryan Sabinish in the Ward 3 race for Albert Lea City Council. She had 829 votes, and Sabinish had 781.

Ward 1 Councilor Vern Rasmussen won re-election with no challengers. Larry Anderson won Ward 5. His challenger, David MontaƱo, dropped out but was still on the ballot.

In the controversial Freeborn mayoral race, incumbent Mark Gruben defeated Patricia Ann Kast 87 votes to 38 votes.

It looks like Freeborn County supports Barack Obama for U.S. president and Al Franken for U.S. senator.

Neal Gjersvik had a slim lead in the race for Freeborn County Commissioner District 1, but incumbent Glen Mathiason caught back up and pulled out a victory. Incumbent Jim Nelson coasted to a win in the race for Commissioner District 3.

Freeborn County favored incumbent Tim Walz for Congress.

Michael Murtaugh defeated Randy Erdman in the race for Albert Lea mayor.

Freeborn County residents supported the outdoors and arts amendment, with 9,516 votes in favor and 7,136 votes against. There were 699 blanks, which count as no votes, for a total of 7,835 against.

In the race for mayor of Geneva, Steven Bailey has 184 votes and Dustin Quimby has 82.

In Geneva’s mayoral race, Jannell Tufte has 212 and Timothy Gassman has 109.

Hollandale’s mayoral race has Ken Muilenburg with 114 votes and Tom Nims with 98.

Sarah Attig has 59 votes and Jeanne Epland has 53 in the race for mayor of Twin Lakes.

In the Conger mayoral race, Travis Henderson has 52 votes against no opponents.
