Lauretta Gavle

Funeral services for Lauretta V. Gavle, 96, of Twin Lakes, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lunder Lutheran Church. The Rev. Tammy Dahlvang will officiate. Interment will be in the Lunder Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lauretta died on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Lauretta Vivian Gavle was born on Oct. 17, 1912, in Tolstoy, S.D., the daughter of Harry and Jessie (Penrod) Towne. She moved to Twin Lakes with her family as a young girl. Lauretta graduated from Albert Lea High School. She was united in marriage to Alton “Tony” Gavle on May 7, 1933, at the Glenville Parsonage. Lauretta was a member of Lunder Lutheran church, the ELCW, and church circles. She was self-employed as a cake decorator for wedding cakes and special occasions. She enjoyed painting, sewing, and being a homemaker.
Survivors include her children, Lorna and her husband Charles Troe of Albert Lea, Lorraine and her husband Kenneth Nagel of Albert Lea, and Berdine Gavle and her husband Gregory Staples of McGrath; grandchildren Kathy and her husband Rich Wirt of Lake Mills, Iowa, Julie and her husband Don Yost of Albert Lea, Sandy and her husband Darrell Lee of Rogers, Audrey and her husband Terry Peterson of Clear Lake, Iowa, Steven and his wife Julie Nagel of St. Louis Park, Brad and his wife Connie Nagel of Faribault, Carrie Villana of Chaska, Sherry Velasco of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lauri Belland of the twin cities; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and her brother Earl and his wife Dorothy Towne of Emmons.
Lauretta was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; her parents; her infant daughter, Gloria Jean; brothers, Howard, Lloyd, Glenn, Marvin, and Wallace; and her sisters, Violet Peterson and Vern Peterson.
