Here are some local and area highlights in history for Nov. 18, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1987 &8212; Joseph Spark Sr. was honored by the Lions Club for his 41 years of membership. He was also the former chief of the Albert Lea Fire Department.
1977 &8212; A grand opening of the Bend in the Road establishment in Manchester would be 7 p.m. to whenever on Nov. 22. The new owners were Herb Pauls and Arnie Venem.
1957 &8212;
Mrs. J.E. Murtaugh was the Freeborn County Centennial Queen. She and many county citizens dressed in clothing based on the previous century.
