Raymond Massey

Raymond James Massey, 80, of Dodge Center, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at the VA Medical Center, Minneapolis.
He was born May 29, 1928, in Britt, Iowa, the son of Walter and Margaret (Kelly) Massey. Raymond moved to Dodge County with his parents at a young age. He farmed on his family farm prior to serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Raymond married Helen Rasmussen Aug. 16, 1949, in Claremont and they were later divorced. Along with farming Ray worked for the elevator in Claremont; Purina Feeds in Dodge Center and later West Concord. He was a salesman for Cargill, Marting Manufacturing and retired from Fox Ag. He loved his hobby farm where he raised beef cattle and chickens. He took pride in his yard work and flowers.
Raymond was a member of the Owatonna American Legion and the Albert Lea Eagles Club.
He is survived by his sons, Rod (and Sharon Meyer) Massey of Roseville, Rich (and Michelle) Massey of Mantorville, Randy Massey of West Concord; five grandchildren; sisters, Rita Schantz of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Rachel (and Joe) Gartner of Claremont; special friend, Fran Blakestad of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at Holy Family Catholic Church, Kasson on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Kasson. Interment will be in the St. Frances de Sales Cemetery in Claremont.
