Rhoda Thompson

The funeral service for Rhoda Thompson of Albert Lea will be 4 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Elmore. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Rhoda died Thursday Nov. 27, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 95 years old.
Rhoda was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Rake, Iowa, to Lars and Mary (Ranes) Honstad. Rhoda lives in Elmore and Albert Lea. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church. She married Ray Evans in 1930. He died in 1955. She married Lloyd Thompson in 1958. He died in 1992. She worked at Naeve Hospital in the kitchen area. Rhoda enjoyed traveling, camping and wintering in Texas. She especially loved to spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed embroidering, cooking and was known for her special chocolate chip cookies and home made buns.
Rhoda was survived by three children: Lyle Evans and his wife Darleen of Venice, Fla., Betty Snyder and husband Jerry of Elk River, and Lynn Thompson and wife Teresa of Eau Claire, Wis.; step children: Beverly Willaby of Albert Lea, Larry Thompson and his wife Elizabeth of Albert Lea, Janice Pierce and husband Paul of Hamilton, Ill., David Thompson of La Crosse, Wis., Carol Bennett and husband Ron of Bethany, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mabel Johnson of Albert Lea, Lydia Helleksen of Lake Crystal, Gertrude Murra of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Marion Odson of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
Rhoda was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Ray Evans, Lloyd Thompson; sister Luella Peter, brothers: Otis Honstad, Sam Honstad; step children: Hollis Thompson, Roger Thompson; grandchild: George Timothy Huber; great grandchild: Mark Timothy Huber.
