Three people are dead and a fourth is in critical condition after a crash on Interstate 94 near Alexandria.

The Minnesota State Patrol told KFGO News in Fargo that the crash happened just after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Lieutenant Dan Vickmark says a car lost control while merging onto the freeway, prompting a semi driver to pull over and try to help.

The driver of a third vehicle then lost control and crashed into the other two. All of those killed or injured were in the third vehicle. No names have been released.

The State Patrol is reconstructing the crash. Vickmark said the interstate is in decent condition but that ramps and bridge decks are still slippery.
