The funeral service for Carmen Violet Dupont will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 on Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
Carmen was born on April 7, 1915, in Eagle Bend, the daughter of Harvey and Inga Sarff. Her mother died when she was very young and she was raised by Benjamin and Minnie Abbott. She graduated from Eagle Bend Schools.
Carmen was united in marriage to Joseph Dupont on June 15, 1937. They had lived in Frazee and Morris before Joseph, a highway engineer, was transferred to Albert Lea in 1963.
She enjoyed reading, cooking and her pet friends and especially loved spending time with her family. She was a very loving wife and mother. It was especially difficult for her to have had her two children Steven and Joanne proceed her in death.
Carmen died on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. She was 93.
She is survived by two granddaughters: Michelle Boone of Albert Lea, and Stephanie Dupont of Buffalo Center, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Mario Martinez, Lucas Possehl, Marissa and MaKenzie Boone, and Joseph and Tia Dupont.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Inga Sarff; Benjamin and Minnie Abbott; husband Joseph; children Steven and Joanne.
