Aztec dancers perform at St. Theodore Catholic Church following a bilingual Mass Friday evening. A potluck fiesta and pinatas followed the church service. It was all in celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our Lady of Guadalupe’s feast day is celebrated each year on Dec. 12, and commemorates the account of her appearances to Saint Juan Diego on the hill of Tepeyac near Mexico City in 1531. The Virgin of Guadalupe is a symbol of significant importance to Mexican Catholics. She is recognized as “Patroness of the Americas.”
