Ellsworth Behr

Ellsworth Russell Behr, 90, of Freeborn County, passed away on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Conger. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery at Bear Lake.
Ellsworth Behr was born July 21, 1918, at home in Freeborn County, the son of Carl and Emma (Gerhardt) Behr. He was baptized and confirmed at Bear Lake Lutheran Church. He attended country school through the eighth grade. On Oct. 2, 1940, he married Eudene Lucille Johnson at Alden Redeemer Lutheran Church. They started farming in March 1941, and farmed in Freeborn County all of their lives. They moved to Conger in 1968.
Ellsworth was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Conger. He was on the Conger town council for two years. He served two terms on the church council and was part of the Conger Senior Citizens group. He enjoyed farming, spear fishing, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends. He also enjoyed putting together puzzles, snowmobiling, cribbage and camping.
Ellsworth is survived by his wife, Eudene Behr of Conger; daughter, Joan (George) Templin of Mankato; sons: Delane (Darlene) Behr of Lake Mills, Iowa, David Behr of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Merle (Shirley) Behr of Conger; grandchildren: Todd (Alena) Behr, Michael and Laura Templin, Jarrod Behr, Janine Schreiber, and Paul (Theresa) Sullivan; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Leslie (Joy) Behr of Emmons; sister-in-law, Darlene Behr of Conger, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Russell and Eldo Behr.
