Lanesboro’s Brett Hungerholt was on fire Saturday against Glenville-Emmons in Lanesboro as he scored more than half of his team’s points in a 61-43 victory over the Wolverines.

Glenville-Emmons could do little to contain the 6-foot-4 junior guard, but then again many teams have had the same problem.

The Wolverines trailed by 10 at halftime and was able to cut the lead to nine at the 10 minute mark in the second half before the Burros pulled away.

Michael Thofson led Glenville-Emmons with 12 points. Thofson put together a solid game as he added five rebounds.

Derek Sanderson led the Wolverines (0-3) in rebounds with 11. Tyler Woodside had five rebounds and Garret Schumaker had six. Woodside added 8 points and four steals.

“We played very well to start the game,” Glenville-Emmons head coach Dan Fredrickson said. “Things are starting to come together and the kids are starting to get it.”

Fredrickson said a few practices would go a long ways for the team, but the schedule has been packed to start the season. The Wolverines opened the season against Alden-Conger two weeks ago and last weekend played Friday and Saturday night. Glenville-Emmons will get some time this week as the team doesn’t return to action until Friday night against Spring Grove.

The Wolverines enter a tough stretch of games beginning Friday. The Lions are picked to finish second in Class A, Section1. Then Glenville-Emmons plays a solid Blooming Prairie team to close ourt December.
