Tigers drop overtime game 3-2

The Albert Lea girls’ hockey suffered a difficult loss Thursday in Winona as the Tigers fell 3-2 in overtime.

Lauren Borkowski scored her second goal of the game in overtime to give the Winhawks (2-3, 2-3) a come-from-behind win against the Tigers.

Albert Lea goalie Kelli Hanson was screened on the shot that came from the top of the left circle. The shot found the top corner of the goal dealt the Tigers another defeat.

Albert Lea (2-6, 2-5) held a 1-0 lead in the first period when Natasha Moyer scored 9 minutes, 22 seconds into the period.

“The first period we were outshooting them and outskating them,” said Tigers head coach Brian Blatti.

Winona was able to tie the game with 37 seconds remaining in the period when Lauren Borkowski scored her first goal of the game.

In the second period Maddy Eddy struck for the Winhawks ont he power play 19 seconds in to give Winona a 2-1 lead.

In the third Mariah Leach found the equalizer 10:50 into the period.
