U.S. Cellular earlier this month launched a program called Calling All Communities, through which it will be granting 10 schools $100,000 each. A total of $1 million will be given away to public and private schools.
According to a news release, U.S. Cellular understands that times are tough for Minnesota schools, and that is why the company has decided to call on the communities it serves to help their local schools.
The grants can be used for any purpose. All K-12 public and private schools in the United States are eligible to win.
To participate, anyone can simply go into a U.S. Cellular store between now and Jan. 15 and ask to fill out a Calling All Communities pre-paid postcard. Between now and Jan. 15, U.S. Cellular customers who come in to any U.S. Cellular store, including participating agent locations, to activate, renew or add additional lines can vote for the school of their choice to receive $100,000. There is no purchase required to vote.
Nationwide, U.S. Cellular has donated more than $4 million to nonprofit organizations serving youth, families and seniors; and employees have volunteered more than 8,000 hours so far in 2008.
