Verne R. Friday, 70, of Hopkins, died Dec. 13, 2008.
Preceded in death by parents: Roland and Agnes; and brother, Clair.
Survived by loving wife of 42 years, Arleen; daughters: Cindy (Rick) Fischer of West Fargo, N.D., Sandra (Tom) Weiland of Elgin, Ill.; four grandchildren; Julia and Matthew Fischer, Patrick and Jack Weiland; loving aunt, Dolores Morey of Motley, and many friends.
Verne was a graduate of Albert Lea High School in 1956, served with the U.S. Army and received a degree in accounting from Mankato State. Verne had a very successful professional career and retired in 2003 after 20 years with Steinel America as President and CFO. He was an active member of St. John the Evangelist and the Church of St. Patrick. Among the things Verne enjoyed were caring for his yard, playing golf and spending time with friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Patrick’s Church. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Rush City. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the Church of St. Patrick, 6820 St. Patrick’s Lane (Valley View @ Gleason Road), Edina. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, West 50th Street and Highway 100.
