Gordon Meyer

Gordon LeRoy Meyer, 53, of Wells, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at his home in Wells. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. The Rev. Meg Sander will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.
Gordy Meyer was born April 15, 1955, in Albert Lea, the son of Marvin and Marcella (Drager) Meyer. Gordy graduated from Wells-Easton High School, the class of 1973. In 1975, he was united in marriage to Rhonda Olds and to this union one son was born, the couple later divorced. On Oct. 21, 1989, he was united in marriage to Patricia Elvebak in Mankato. Gordy was employed by Nordaas American Homes in Minnesota Lake for the past 13 1/2 years. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and golfing. He enjoyed playing softball for many years. He also enjoyed watching Minnesota sports, the Vikings and Twins. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Gordy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and making people laugh. It was an especially proud moment for Gordy when he became a grandpa.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Meyer of Wells; son, Ryan and his wife Traci Meyer of Carver; daughter, Brandee Meyer of Wells; one granddaughter, Madison Meyer of Carver; three sisters: Karen Meyer, Adoris (Ron) Fuchs, all of Waseca, Kathleen (Jerry) Schultz of New Richland; one brother, Alan (Sandy) Meyer of Mankato; mother-in-law, Connie Goossen of Maplewood; father-in-law, Rodney (Julie) Elvebak of Kiester; brothers-in-law: John Shepard of St. Cloud, Dale (Charlotte) Elvebak of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Susan (Mark) Kelly of St. Paul; along with many nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Ron Elvebak; and step-father-in-law, John Goossen.
