Lorenz Lorenzen, 86, of Rochester, formerly of London, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at Maple Manor in Rochester. Lorenz Thomas Lorenzen was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Lyle, to Thomas and Marie (Kroger) Lorenzen. After attending school he married Viola Bierlan on Nov. 14, 1942, in Hayward. Together they farmed in the London area and raised six children. Lorenz also was the fire chief for the London fire department. They enjoyed camping, driving and taking the Suburban and camping with the Nu-way club. He also loved Viola’s cooking and loved to dance.
Survivors include daughters: Paulette (Larry) Nelson, Albert Lea, Judy Leidal, Austin, Lori Sievers, Rochester, Kimberly Higbe, Austin, and Shawn (Pat) Arzdorf, Cedar; son, Thomas (Linda) Lorenzen, Glenville; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola; and two sisters: Maxine Tesch and Arlene Bahls.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Ronald Myers officiating. Interment will be in Woodbury Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Worlein Funeral Home.
