An experienced Austin team topped Albert Lea 66-31 in a Big Nine boys’ basketball game on Saturday night in Albert Lea.

Alik Smed led the Tigers (1-6, 0-2 Big Nine) with nine points.

The Packers (4-1, 2-0) led 34-12 at the half as the Tigers were victimized by more than 20 turnovers on the night.

“I was not very pleased with how we played,” Albert Lea coach Chad Feikema said. “Our concentration and effort were lacking. [Austin] played at a different speed than us.”

Sean Templeman and Colby Strilaeff both added seven points for the Tigers, who return to the court on Tuesday at Owatonna.
