It wasn’t the prettiest game for the United South Central girls’ basketball team, but Monday night’s contest in Wells against Mankato Loyola will go as a 50-41 win for the Rebels.
Val Sahr and Kayla Stenzel both scored 12 points, leading the charge for USC, which moved to 7-3 and 4-0 in the Gopher Conference. Sahr grabbed eight rebounds and Stenzel had six.
“We were the taller team and we didn’t get it done on rebound,” said coach Stu Hendrickson, whose team was outrebounded 25-9 before halftime.
Christy Rotchadel led the Crusaders with 23 points.
The Rebels took a 19-18 halftime lead and turned in a better second half performance. Taylor Allis added five assists and six points on the night.
United South Central travels to Blooming Prairie on Friday.
