Alice Olson

Alice Jenette Olson, 97, of Northwood, Iowa, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
A funeral service for Alice will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, 309 N. Ninth St., Northwood, with the Rev. Daniel R. Hart officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.
The family of Alice Jenette Olson has requested should friends desire, contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church in Northwood in her memory.
Alice Jenette Olson was born on April 29, 1911, in Mitchell County, the daughter of Walter and Isabel (Kvale) Pike. She attended schools in Otranto, graduating from Otranto High School in 1929. She was united in marriage to Alvin Olson on Nov. 21, 1931, at the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church in Northwood. After their marriage together they farmed in the Barton and Grove Township area. Alice was a wonderful farm wife and cook. Alice also was a cook for the Northwood-Kensett Schools, drove school bus, worked as a cook for the Paramount Café in Northwood, and drove Winnebago Motor Homes with her husband.
Alice enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, and being a seamstress.
Alice was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Abigail Circle, and taught Sunday school, was a 4-H leader, and a member of the Worth County Historical Society.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Janette (Art) Bickford of Garden Grove, Calif., Janice Olson of Northwood, and Marcia (Jim) Price of Northwood; 11 grandchildren: Connie (Brian) Kenison, Pam (Doug) Meyer, Lori (Tim) Wallach, Paul (Kendis) Bickford, Phil (Kirsten) Bickford, Michael Bickford, Shelley (Dan) Robson, Lisa (Matt) Irving, Anjanette (Bill) Goetz, Alison (Rich) Gores, and Amyjane (Jason) Mong; 23 great-grandchildren: Kris Kenison, Lindsey (Mike) Severson, Jordan Kenison, Melissa, Nicole, and Courtney Meyer, Matt, Brett, and Chad Wallach, Will, Jayne, Wyatt, Riley, Owen, and Grady Bickford, Alex, Jeff, and Jana Robson, Elaina, Mia, and Ava Irving, and Amanda and Andrew Mong; a sister, Thelma Delaney of Austin, as well as many nieces, nephews, many other extended family members and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin who died on March 11, 1993; four brothers: Archie, Harold, Guy, and Roy Pike; four sisters: Dorothy Naber, Truly Nelson, Elmo, and Lucy Pike; and a son-in-law, Guy Olson. 
Alice will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
