Five Albert Lea churches team together for shared worship services on Wednesdays in Lent. The United Methodist, First Baptist, First Presbyterian, Salem Lutheran and Ascension Lutheran churches gather at 7 p.m. each Wednesday evening for prayer, song, and a preaching series based on the seven deadly sins (lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, anger, envy and pride). The series began on Ash Wednesday in the individual congregations and continues at 7 p.m. on March 4 at the United Methodist Church (702 Highway 69 S.). The March 11 service will be at Salem Lutheran, the March 18 service will be at First Baptist, the March 25 service is at Ascension Lutheran and the April 1 service is at First Presbyterian. Contributions are invited for the Ecumenical Food Pantry.
For those who prefer a daytime option, services will be held at 11 a.m. each Wednesday at Ascension (1101 Highway 69 S.). A soup lunch will be served.
You are invited to worship with your friends and neighbors on the next five Wednesdays. For more information, you may call Ascension at 373-3408.
