The show will be open March 3 to March 28. Regular gallery hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Bonnie Wedge, art teacher at Lakeview Elementary, said her students’ pieces have all been created since Jan. 1. The three other teachers have been collecting art all year.

“They don’t like to give it up,” Wedge said of her students and their art. “They like to take their work home.”

Wedge’s students have created spiral weavings, coiled baskets, printing with objects and circle dragons.

Mark Blong’s students at Sibley have submitted diverse media as well. His students’ offerings include three-dimensional works, pencil, watercolor and paints.

“I had a tough time with the little kids trying to get them to give me their stuff,” Blong said.

Andrea Harves’ students at Hawthorne Elementary have created cultural pieces, including King Tut and Native America art to self-portraits and sweet treats.

“The kids had such good time creating those,” Harves said.

Cammie Tennis’ students at Halverson have created everything from polar bears to snowmen with chalk, oil crayons and glitter glaze.

She likes the opportunity for the students to show their work at the Art Center.

“I think they like to show their families their pieces that are hung up,” Tennis said.

Harves urged everyone to come out and view the students’ work.

“These are our future artists,” she said. “The kids are so proud of their work.”
