The Freeborn County Child Passenger Safety Coalition, comprised of members from Freeborn County Public Health, Albert Lea Medical Center and the Albert Lea Police Department, are hosting their first ever monthly child safety seat checkup event on Saturday, Feb. 21. The event will be at Flaherty’s Auto Center, 2527 Bridge Ave. in Albert Lea from 9 am to noon. Appointments are suggested but not mandatory. Appointments can be made by contacting Freeborn County Public Health at 377-5100.
The seat check clinics will be held the third Saturday of every month at Flaherty’s Auto Center from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is open to anybody from the surrounding area who wishes to insure their child’s safety seat is properly secured in their vehicle. This could be anyone from new parents of unborn children to grandparents to daycare providers. People are encouraged to bring their vehicle’s owner’s manual and the manual they received with their child restraint. Forms will be on hand for people to register their seats with the manufacturer for recalls if they have not previously done so.
