Harriett Ann Steinke, 86, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Albert Lea, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Knoxville. She was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Garden City, to Arthur and May (Call) Steinke. She graduated from Garden City High School. She worked in Albert Lea for American Gas, then moved to Knoxville where she worked for Oak Ridge National Laboratories as an administrative assistant for 29 years. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Knoxville.
Harriett is survived by sisters-in-law: Nadine Steinke of Knoxville and Dorothy Steinke of Albert Lea; nieces: Karen Burress of Knoxville, Gae Ann Wieczarek (Jim) of Erie, Pa., and Beth Egge (Dwaine) of Albert Lea; nephew, Timothy Steinke of Chicago, Ill.; and many great and great-great neices and nephews.
Harriett was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Jack Elwin Steinke of Albert Lea, Ray Charles “Bud” Steinke of Knoxvilie and Max Merrill Steinke of Erie; sister-in-law, Dorine Steinke of Erie; and nephew, Stephen Charles Steinke of Knoxville.
Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at Weaver Funeral Home. A service followed with the Rev. Eric Murray officiating. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
