Loyola downs USC boys

It was slow going for both the United South Central boys’ basketball team and Mankato Loyola Friday in Mankato but the Crusaders downed the Rebels 58-52 in a Gopher Conference game.

Jackson Bartlett and Bo Schmidt scored 15 points each for Mankato Loyola (17-6, 12-3) in the win.

The Crusaders held a 19-14 lead in the first half, but both teams scored more than double that in the second half.

Riley Swearingen scored 16 points and Jake Sonnek had 12 for USC (10-12, 7-7) in the loss.
