Anna Butler, 103

Funeral services for Anna H. Dahle Butler will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Wayne Halvorson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Anna died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at St John’s Lutheran Home. She was 103 years of age.
Anna was born Nov. 2, 1905, in Worth County Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Ingeborg (Stene) Dahle. She attended the Lime Creek Christian Day School and the Martin Luther Academy in New Ulm.
Anna was united in marriage to James T. Butler and spent most of her married life farming together in the Emmons and Lake Mills, Iowa, area. They purchased the farm that Iver Johnson Saterdahl, her great-grandfather, homesteaded in Worth County, Iowa.
Anna had been the church organist at the Lime Creek and Lake Mills Evangelical Lutheran churches for many years. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and a member of the ladies’ aid.
Anna worked at Deluxe Manufacturing in Lake Mills and was the first worker to retire from there.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Agnes (Donald) Hart of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandchildren, Michael (Sue) Battleson, MaryJo Valdez, Terry Battleson and Kim (Mike) Wyant. Anna is also survived by her granddaughter-in-law, Shelby Battleson, who took care of and watched over her. There are several great- and great-great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. One sister-in-law, Oma (Palmer) Dahle of Minneapolis, survives, as do many nieces and nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Minnie Anderson, Valborg Dahle and a sister in infancy; brothers, Elmer, Arthur, Ingvald, Irvin, Palmer and Rueben; and two great-grandchildren, Heather Battleson and Justin Battleson.
