Four-day week would benefit students

I support the idea of a four-day week. There are several reasons why a four-day week should be used, or at least thought about. Two years ago teachers at Albert Lea High School switched from a four-period day to a seven-period day, and I don’t think for the better. A four-period day seemed to work better and run smoother than a seven, and a four-day week would help with that.

First, it extends the periods to make them longer, so students would get a lot more work done. Instead of having a discussion then writing the assignment down as the bell goes off, you could do the assignment and ask questions as well.

Second, it would save energy and transportation costs. So school with a tight budget, like all schools, it would loosen the budget a little.

Finally, a three-day weekend would be given. Everyone loves a three-day weekend and having one every weekend would lower stress levels, give kids more time for homework, and give them a longer break before measly Monday rolled around.
