North Dakota State standout Ben Woodside was named All-American Honorable Mention Monday by the Associated Press.
It was yet another honor for the former Albert Lea High School star. Woodside became the Bison’s all-time leading scorer and set a school and Summit League record by scoring 60 points against Stephen F. Austin in December. His 60 points was also the most scored in an NCAA game this season. Woodside was named the Summit League Player of the Year and Mid-Major All-American as well this season.
Woodside led NDSU to its first NCAA tournament appearance this season in the school’s first year of eligibility.
Woodside and three others redshirted their freshman year to have the chance at one NCAA run.
He averaged 23.2 points, 6.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds a game as the Bison finished the season with a 26-7.
Woodside scored 37 points for NDSU against Kansas in its opening round loss to the Jayhawks.
The next step for Woodside is the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in Virginia April 8-11, a chance for NBA scouts to get a better look at him before the NBA draft.
