NRHEG sends 3 to state, USC 2

Tim Bartness, Colton Schlaak and David Lindell all made their way to state through the Section 2A individual tournament Saturday for New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva.
Preston Stolach and A.J. Dreyer also made their way through to the state individual tournament which begins Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
United South Central’s Preston Stolach will face Jordan Bendson in the first round of the Class 1A tournament at 140 pounds. Bendson has a 37-1 record and Stolach a 26-7 record.
New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva’s Colton Schlaak is appearing in his fourth consecutive state tournament and he is facing Alex Steffel, of BOLD, in the first round. Schlaak has a record of 30-11 and is ranked No. 8 in Class A. Steffel has a 31-12 record and is ranked No. 9 at 160.
USC’s A.J. Dreyer will face Tyler McMonagle, Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial, in the first round at 215. Dreyer has a record of 20-9 and McMongale is ranked No. 7 in the state and has a record of 31-4.
NRHEG’s Tim Bartness is also making his fourth consecutive trip to state. He will face No. 1-ranked Collin Jergenson of Minnewaska in the first round at 152. Bartness enters the tournament with a record of 31-10 and Jergenson is undefeated with a 36-0 record.
At 189 David Lindell, ranked No. 5 in state, will make his first trip to state for the Panthers. He will face No. 1-ranked Joel Bauman of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in the first round. Lindell has a 34-6 record and Bauman a 38-2 record.
