We’ve been hearing a lot about Albert Lea being part of the Blue Zones with the goal of getting the citizens of Albert Lea to get out and walk and bike more — making Albert Lea a healthier place to live.  I would like to expand on this by suggesting that while we are out walking that it might be a good idea to bring along a garbage bag or two and pick up the litter that has accumulated on the walking paths, roadways and around the lakes over the winter. Besides helping our bodies, we can also do our part to live in a healthier environment. A bird shouldn’t have to be hatched and raised in a nest built from garbage and cigarette butts.
