Memorial services for Soren Paul Sorensen, 89, of Freeborn will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, at the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ. The Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate. Paul died on Friday, March 6, 2009, at the New Richland Care Center.
Soren Paul Sorensen was born on Jan. 1, 1920, in Freeborn, the son of Soren Peter and Mary Eleanor (Coon) Sorensen. He grew up and went to school in Freeborn. On Feb. 6, 1945, Paul was united in marriage to Gertrude Sipple at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church in Albert Lea. Paul farmed northwest of Freeborn. He served on the Freeborn Creamery board for thirteen years. The creamery was closed in 1968.
Survivors include his son, Steven and his wife Sonja Sorensen of Wells; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gertrude; granddaughter, Tammy Sorensen; sister, Elsie Sorensen; and his half-brothers: Lawrence and Ralph Sorensen.
