Tree knocks out power in Emmons

Wind felled a tree in Emmons and struck a power line Tuesday morning, briefly knocking out power for this Iowa-Minnesota border town. Many downtown businesses were left waiting for the electricity to come back on. Alliant Energy workers repaired the line and restored electricity.

The wind speed in Emmons on Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service, was about 13 mph with gusts of up to 21 mph. Winds were from the south. The air temperature was 52 degrees.
