What exactly is No Child Left Behind?

I am a good student so I probably don’t need to worry about this, but what exactly is No Child Left Behind? Many people I know wouldn’t know if you asked them. From what it sounds, shouldn’t students be more involved? Therefore, shouldn’t I be informed about what exactly this is? I don’t see how a student could get help if the majority doesn’t even know what it is.
Obviously, it is something that needs more involvement. Maybe the students could offer ways that the program, or whatever it is, can help us. I’m sure our generation, which this program could help, would be able to offer learning suggestions. They would probably know the ways that the tax dollars could be spent to help more efficiently. It might just be me, but I have not noticed anything from when the “act” came in. And I probably wouldn’t notice if it left. We need a better solution.
