Why send teens out into severe weather?

I am writing to you regarding the school cancellations this year. This is my sophomore year in high school. Please don’t get me wrong, I love snow days. Some have just been strange though — mainly the last one.

On that Thursday I thought it unnecessary to go to school. If you just watched the weather they told you snow, sleet and rain. All starting in the morning. Is this not a red flag being waved in everyone’s face?

Going to school for four hours and then leaving in the worst part of the storm, I felt it would have been safer for everyone, especially teenage drivers, to stay home.

I know we are humans and no one is perfect, but going to school at all that day was a bad call, nor am I blaming anyone for what they did. In my opinion, it is just safer and a much wiser idea to cancel school altogether on days with such weather.
