A 23-year-old woman from Forest City, Iowa, died Thursday from injuries sustained when she was thrown from a 4-wheeler Wednesday.

According to information from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Jennifer Amanda Estes was injured while riding an all-terrain vehicle west of Lake Mills. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday, when Estes’ friend called.

Also at the scene were Lake Mills Ambulance Service and Lake Mills Fire Department.

A Mercy Airlife helicopter was dispatched, but Estes was transported to Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa, via Lake Mills Ambulance Service. Estes passed away Thursday at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

The Iowa State Patrol and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the fatality.

A memorial service for Estes will be at 5 p.m. Monday at Emmons Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Julie Fiske officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 5 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
