The Albert Lea junior varsity team continued its success Thursday with a 4-2 victory over Winona. The Tigers bounced back well after they split a doubleheader with Faribault on Tuesday.
The game was filled with good defense by both teams, including two double plays by the Tigers.
Cody Haaland picked up the win with six innings of work, giving up two runs with only one being earned.
The Tigers were up 4-1 in the top of the seventh when Josh Eisenbraun came into the game with the bases loaded. After allowing a run to score on a wild pitch, Eisenbraun settled down and struck out the next batter and let the defense do the rest.
Dalton Westerlund made a running grab into shallow left from shortstop. With two outs Eisenbraun got the batter to pop out to left ending the game and picking up the save.
Albert Lea split a doubleheader with Faribault Tuesday as the Tigers were handed their first loss of the season.
